I’m a big fan of thinking outside the box to lead an amazing life. But sometimes, you can actually get it all without ending up in a 700 square foot 1 bedroom bungalow with a closet that holds 3 shirts. And I guess that’s what’s drawing us to this house. It’s located on a pretty cool hill on the ocean side of 5. There are pretty easy bike rides to the beach, and the bike ride back will be great for your legs 🙂 But this house is not only turnkey with some great outdoor spaces, it has views of the hills and over 1900 square feet.

Inside, the styling is just a little too much for me (every photo looks like it belongs on Pinterest) but the detail is good and I get the feeling the remodeling choices reflect actual personalities, not just someone who wrote a check to their designer with the charge: “do whatever’s ‘in’ right now. ” People often forget with a renovation that it’s not just the cost to buy the materials and do the work, it’s also the stress and the time. This area of San Clemente has been on the ups for a while now (we sold an amazingly modern ranch remodel down the street a few years ago) and a home like this is a bit of a rare find over there.

If there’s any area of improvement, it’s outside. This property has several outdoor areas and on these smaller lots, practicing “zone” landscape design. It also has a nice front deck for looking out over the hills. Other than that, there isn’t much we would change. The design choices aren’t to everybody’s taste, but they’re well-executed, which is much more than I can say for a lot of other homes.
