Quirky, Funky, and Fresh (the truth about our listing in Orange)

We’ve always believed it’s important to be honest and balanced when writing these reviews. And that holds true even when it’s our listing. And I think what I love the most about this house is that it doesn’t feel like every single other smaller ranch home in Orange. A lot of that is inherent to the design — the unique little courtyard between home and the garage and the so-cool-why-aren’t-they-all-like-this rounded fascia board trim. But a lot of it is in the things that the current sellers (we sold them the house, too) have done. When they came in, this home was the opportunity of their lifetime — a way to get into the neighborhood they really wanted (bikable to Old Towne, but none of the noise and parking issues) at a price they could afford. And I still feel like the home is that way today. The house two doors down, the same model, is in escrow around $750,000 ($50,000 more than our list price). It’s not perfect, and sometimes quirky and funky also means a little weird. This home is, technically, “1.5 baths” — but I don’t feel like that’s an accurate description. It’s really two full bathrooms — that just happen to share a double-sided tub / shower. The current owners thought it was a little weird and they told me they were going to reconfigure the bathroom as their first project. But then something funny happened — the bathroom configuration actually worked out pretty well and they never got around to it. So here’s the chance to get a home that’s very noticeably bigger than the typical 1200 square foot homes in one of Orange’s premier neighborhoods. And it’s got some character and fun, too.
