Yup, it might seem like an odd home to feature, but as I tell people, we feature exceptional homes in all categories. There are so many ways to go wrong with tract homes, that it’s inspiring to find one that really gets it right. Typically we shy away from comments on pricing, but I have to call out the elephant in the room — over $520 per square foot in Mission Viejo for a home over 2000 square feet is pretty much the top of the top. I’m curious to see if they get it, because the design and detailing on this house is really head and shoulders above anything else.
Frequently, homes like this see generic upgrades that haphazardly graft whatever current design trends are hot. And make no mistake, this home has a timely, trendy design. But what I love is that it doesn’t fight the original architecture of the home — it works with and enhances it. Take a look at the living room. They had brick and a rough-sawn tongue and groove ceiling. Both elements were common in the Spanish Contemporary design language emblematic of Mission Viejo. But they managed to update the color palette and look in a way that feels current, but also still feel like the original design. The rough wood on the ceiling looks beautiful in a grey whitewash. It works.
And then there’s the detailing and thought that went into the kitchen. This proves a beautiful kitchen design isn’t a race to see who can buy the most expensive and materials — it’s about planning, design, and details. The hidden vent hood is a personal favorite…along with the pretty but actually functional table-top island. I will always appreciate great design, even if the style isn’t my personal favorite. And studies show that you will, too. This is the secret new homebuilders use to attract buyers. In that case, the door knobs may be cheap, but they all match! Am I saying this home is cheap, no way. But they’re selling a complete package.
And what a package it is. The 3 car garage is a bonus in a home of this size and the panoramic views speak for themselves. Lastly, while 8,000 square feet of land might not sound big to those accustomed to North Tustin lots, it’s gargantuan by Mission Viejo standards.
