The Last of a Dying Mid-Century Modern Breed

If you’ve been following for a while, you may have noticed we used to do a feature called “ModClassic” — it was to identify those cool, original, “time capsule” homes. We haven’t done one in a while because, frankly, there haven’t been any! Homes like these are special not only for the obvious “It’s only original once” — but also because they provide a truly unadulterated view of mid-century modernism…when it was new.

This isn’t to say the new owner of this home must keep it 100% original. Preservation is noble, but one of the original tenets of modernism was that your home should “work” for the way you live. Today that often means outlets for USB charging plugs, large televisions, and unique home workspaces. But as almost any contractor will tell you, it’s far easier to tastefully, and with restraint work with an original home than one with a hodge-podge of upgrades from different areas.

This particular home is also special because, frankly, it’s the kind of home you’d very likely overlook. It’s in Stanton. 9/10 Orange County residents couldn’t tell you where Stanton is if they had been asked. The lot is over 18,000 square feet and even offers the potential for an extra unit or two.

This home is EXACTLY why we do what we do…which is go through the MLS everyday to checkout everything new that comes up throughout Orange County, Long Beach, La Habra Heights, and San Pedro. It’s our job to find the hidden gems. If you’re ready for a personal look, give us a call!

We're sorry, but we couldn't find MLS # OC15246198 in our database. This property may be a new listing or possibly taken off the market. Please check back again.
