I was born in San Clemente and it will forever be close to my heart. Small beach town feel — even today. But what a lot of people don’t know is that it is a treasure-trove of unique homes. The design is a big statement from the street. And even though this home was built in 1972, it seems to both give homage to the mid-century past as well as adopt some design elements that wouldn’t be at the forefront of contemporary design until the 2000s. It’s a cool house, clearly built by someone who was deliberate in the design.

The only fly in the ointment the current decor. It’s very nice for what it is…kind of a “driftwood Sea Ranch” aesthetic. The problem is that I think it’s just not right for this particular house. The exterior is so sleek, modern, and yet warm. I think this house deserves an interior that is congruent with that ideology. At over $2M, it’s hard to justify a complete redo, but these views are really something else.
